Right-backs aren't supposed to score goals like this. On June 30, 2018, in the 57th minute of France's Round of 16 clash with Argentina at Kazan Arena, an overhit cross from Lucas Hernández sailed past every attacker in the box and landed at the feet of a 22-year-old defender named Benjamin Pavard. Without breaking stride, he met it with the outside of his right foot on the half-volley, curling it past a helpless Franco Armani to level the score at 2-2. France went on to win that thriller 4-3 and eventually lift their second World Cup title, but Pavard's strike outlived the tournament itself — voted Goal of the Tournament by over three million fans, making him the first European to ever win the award. As part of the World Winners event — an ongoing Legendary Agent collection launched the moment the 2026 World Cup concluded, offering a guaranteed card every 15th draw across just eight total players — this 2018 Pavard card is one of two representing that title-winning France squad from Russia.

The card's numbers reflect the profile of a modern, attack-minded full-back rather than a purely defensive one. An 85 Tackling and 81 Strength confirm the defensive solidity that made him a regular starter throughout that World Cup run, while 81 Speed and 83 Stamina give him the engine to bomb forward and recover just as quickly — exactly the kind of run that set up his own iconic goal. A 78 Control and 80 Passing round out a right-back comfortable carrying the ball forward rather than just clearing it, and even a modest 70 Shooting carries a little extra weight knowing what he's capable of when the ball drops kindly. At 186 cm and right-footed, playing RB for France, this is a defender built for both ends of the pitch.

An 84 overall rating makes this one of the more balanced cards in the entire World Winners lineup — not the headline puller that Rodri's 87 card is, but arguably more versatile in how he can be used. Pavard offers genuine defensive reliability with just enough attacking upside to occasionally produce something spectacular, mirroring exactly what he brought to France's triumphant 2018 campaign. For anyone building a French World Cup-winning backline or simply wanting the right-back who scored one of football's most replayed goals, this 2018 Benjamin Pavard is an easy pick from the collection.
